Luxe Remodel

Client: Private Residence
Location: Bethesda, MD
Completed in: 2021
Project overview: Interior Design, FF&E Specification & Procurement, Space Planning, Custom Design, Lighting Design, Millwork Design

  • Functional, quirky and on point were the goals of this luxe remodel. It wasn’t a question of if we’d take on this project, but how soon! Bold color infused with lush textiles results in the cozy and multi-functional den and second bedroom for this Bethesda condo.

The challenge of a narrow space is to be creative with the use of space. Custom cabinetry can fill a void and rich color and texture add drama and depth.

To maximize the narrow den as a seldom-used home office, we added a custom cabinet with a drop-down desk. Plenty of shelves and storage were considered for the client’s collection of art, books and trinkets.

The desk surface is a beautiful walnut with a leather insert that pairs well with the striking painted cabinetry. Bold colors and rich textures are infused throughout the remodel to match the homeowner’s artistic style.

“One of the best parts of working with Todd”, says our client, “was his respect for our budget and [sharing] his thoughts on what to spend on and what to save on.”

“(We love) Todd’s knack for “finding unique pieces and a range of furniture, upholstery, and eye popping art and home decor.”

Fun fact: The client loved the lush velvet textile of the pillow so much she was inspired to commission a skirt!

With two grown children, the second bedroom now acts as a game room. This room is equally lush with color and soft goods like the exquisite textured sheers. The walls and tray ceiling were painted a soft grey for added depth.

The game room has a wall bed enclosed behind closet doors to serve as a spare bedroom when needed.

[Todd] found lots of unique pieces and a great range of furniture, upholstery, and eye popping art and home decor.
