TOBE TALK

THE SCOOP ON DESIGN + TDG

A Sunny Disposition in the Forecast

Summer is a time to relax and recharge and with eight full and part time staffers, juggling vacations can be tricky. To keep everyone—from our principal right down to our intern—equally apprized of project affairs, we have a tight system including shared calendars and daily check-ins.

Summer is also a time to look ahead and now is a perfect time to consider projects to spruce your home for the holidays.

Does your entry need a refresh? Is it screaming for a bold wall color or new hall tree? Perhaps you want something more significant. In our Huntington project below, we replaced a dated stair railing with cable railings to create a modern and airy entry.

A fresh coat of paint, flooring and a glam pendant transformed the space from the original dark entry BT (before TOBE). Head over to our Instagram to view the transformation.

Work in Progress Construction is well underway at our Garfield project. Our contractor Ruben shares how we expanded the primary bedroom, bath and closet in this Northwest DC home remodel. The new closet was originally a secondary bedroom. New venting and recessed lighting may not seem glamorous but they help transform the space into an owner's sanctuary. Listen to the progress from Ruben's point of view.

Noteworthy

Last week we had the opportunity to tour Marriott's global headquarters just a stone's throw from our own Bethesda, Maryland office. The new space is "designed to enable connectivity, collaboration, growth, ideation, and well-being through diverse and dynamic spaces and state-of-the-art technology".

Every element of the building is designed around the well being of their associates, starting with the top floor which, historically, has been reserved for executives. Instead, the top floor of this building is used as a training center for employees and has THE most amazing views in the area.

We especially want to thank our friend and partner Matt Drobenak of Architessa and his wife, Carolina Drobenak, for arranging the tour.

For a fun fact of how it all began, check out this post and follow our IG stories and Threads posts for more fun and quirky inspo.
